4/18/10 - Daytime call: I called 311 and NYPD's 50th District on 4/18/10 during the day to report on a general problem of noise in the streets at night. Both 311 and the NYPD told me that I should call when the noise was going on and that they didn't receive many similar complaints. That's when I decided to encourage people to call 311 when the noise occurs and to start this blog with my neighbors.
4/29/10 - The morning of 4/29/10 around 12:20am there was a lot of shouting in the street so I called 311. Was given code: c1-1-560-798-889. Later called 311 for update of complaint. They said that the police dropped by to investigate and reported "no evidence of violation at the time" they went by. They filed that report on 4/29/10 at 5:20am.
4/30/10 - Tdog: Just filed c1-1-561-236617 complaint about noise tonight/3-30-10. We'll se what happens...sigh [Note: this comment was cut and pasted as a comment in this post to keep our list up to date -- Ben]
5/14/10 at 2:30am. Young men shouting in street. Called 311 Service Request Number: C1-1-564568248

Update to C1-1-564568248 according to 311 Online. "The Police Department responded and upon arrival those responsible for the condition were gone.LAST UPDATED ON: 05/14/2010 4:22:47 AM" Clearly the 311 system is not effective at dealing with this problem.
I was woken up morning of 5/22 at 1:21 am by group of young people yelling at each other. Young woman yelling that "Ryan was confused...". Didn't call anyone since I needed the sleep and didn't want to wake my wife.
Called 311 but due to high call volume would not get an agent..called the 50th to complain about the loud party on Greystone Ave. The operator asked for an exact address, I said Greystone at 238th Street. She said, oh, the college students. We get complaints about them all the time.
